The Untouchables
From 1959 until1963, ABC aired The Untouchables, an American crime drama. Based on the memoir of the same name by Eliot Ness and Oscar Fraley, it recreated Ness' experiences as a Prohibition agent battling crime in 1930s Chicago with a special team of agents selected for their fearlessness and incorruptibility and dubbed the Untouchables. The novel was subsequently adapted into a film by Brian De Palma in1987, with a screenplay by David Mamet, as well as a less successful television series in 1993. In1960, the Emmy Award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series was presented to Robert Stack for his performance in The Untouchables, a tense, hard-hitting crime drama.
