The Newsroom

The Newsroom is a television comedy drama series which ran on CBC Television in the 1996--97 04 and 2004--05 seasons. A television picture, Escape from the Newsroom, was broadcast in 2002. The series is set in the newsroom but is known to be based on the CBC itself. Inspired by American series The Larry Sanders Show and like such earlier series whilst the British Drop the Dead Donkey and the Australian front line, the series mined a dark strand of comedy from the political machinations and the sheer incompetence of the people involved in producing City Hour, the channel's nightly newscast. The run of 13 episodes led The Newsroom to turn into one of the most critically acclaimed programs on television in the 1990s Though not initially intended as an ongoing series. Adhering to this Newsroom's end, Finkleman produced three different short-run series for Foreign Objects Tears, Foolish Heart and also the CBC, most which comprised Findlay as a linking personality.
