Soap

Soap is an American sitcom that ran to 1981 from 1977 on ABC. The series was created as a night-time parody of soap operas, presented like a weekly prime period comedy. Comparable to some soap opera, the show's narrative was presented in a serial format and included plot elements such as alien abduction, demonic possession, murder, and kidnapping. Back in 2007 it was recorded as one of Time magazine's"100 Greatest television shows of all time," and in 2010, the Tates and the Campbells ranked at number 17 in TV Guide's list of"TV's Top Families". The series was made, written, and also executive produced by Susan Harris, and executive produced by Paul Junger Witt and Tony Thomas. Each returning season was preceded by a retrospective of their prior season. A few of those retrospectives were made available on VHS. 85 episodes aired . The last four episodes of this show aired during the initial run on ABC as episodes. These episodes were divided in 2, producing 93 half-hour episodes. All episodes are available on region 1 DVD in four individual box collections. Before, the show has rerun on local channels as well as on cable on Comedy Central and TV Land. It conducted until December 30th, 2012 on Antenna TV, on over-the-air television.
