Degrassi Junior High
Degrassi Junior High is a 1987–1989 Canadian CBC Television teen drama series. The show depicted the life of a group of kids who attended the fictitious school with the same name. The series was praised for its sympathetic and realistic depiction of the difficulties of adolescence, including drug use, child abuse, adolescent pregnancy, homosexuality, homophobia, racism, and divorce. The show's realism was enhanced by the majority of non-professional performers in the cast. Stacie Mistysyn, Neil Hope, Anais Granofsky, and Sarah Charlesworth, among others, reprised their roles from The Kids of Degrassi Street. Degrassi Junior High cannot be regarded a straight spinoff due to the fact that the characters' names and familial situations were altered. Stephen Stohn, who eventually became Degrassi: The Next Generation's executive producer, served as legal counsel for all episodes. In Etobicoke, Ontario, the series was filmed at the vacant Vincent Massey Public School.
