Bread

Bread is actually a television sitcom, screened on BBC1 from 1 May 1986 to 3, produced by the BBC and written by Carla Lane. The show focused on the devoutly-Catholic and lengthy Boswell group of Liverpool, at the district of Dingle, led with its matriarch Nellie by way of lots of downs and ups as they strove to produce their way through life in Thatcher's Britain with no visible means of support. The street displayed at the start of each programme is currently Elswick Street. A family group named Boswell had featured Lane's earlier in the day sitcom The Liver Birds and also Lane confessed that the two families were related. Nellie's feckless and husband, Freddie, abandoned her for another woman known as'Lilo Lill'. Her kiddies Adrian, Jack, Joey, Aveline and Billy donated money to the family fund through benefit fraud and the sale of stolen goods and continued to live at the home in Kelsall Street.
