21 Jump Street

21 Jump Street is an American police procedural crime drama TV show that ran for 103 episodes from April 12, 1987, to April 27, 1991, on the Fox Network and in first run syndication. The show is about a group of undercover police officers who look young and investigate crimes in high schools, colleges, and other places where teens hang out. It was going to be called Jump Street Chapel, after the deconsecrated church building where the unit is based. Fox asked for the name to be changed so that viewers wouldn't think it was a religious show. The show was made by Patrick Hasburgh Productions, Stephen J. Cannell Productions, and 20th Century Fox Television. It was created by Patrick Hasburgh and Stephen J. Cannell. Hasburgh, Cannell, Steve Beers, and Bill Nuss all worked as executive producers. The show was one of the first big hits for the young Fox Network. It was made to attract younger viewers. The last season was shown mostly on local Fox affiliates as first-run syndication. It was later shown again from 1996 to 1998 on the FX cable network. The show helped Johnny Depp start his acting career and made him a teen idol across the country. Depp found this annoying, but he had to keep working on the show because it was in his contract. He was paid $45,000 per episode. After the fourth season, he was finally let out of his contract. For the character of Dennis Booker, a spin-off show called Booker was made. It ran for one season, from September 1989 to June 1990. On March16,2012, the book was turned into a movie starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.
