The Edelweiss Pirates

Cologne near the end of World War II. The city is in shambles, everyone is fearful, and many have perished. This is a period of extreme inhumanity. The young Edelweiss Pirates of Cologne refuse to surrender to the Nazi regime's coercion. They fight with the Hitler Youth and deface walls with anti-war messages. Karl is a member of the Edelweiss Pirates; his younger brother, Peter, is a member of the Hitler Youth. Since their mother was killed in a bombing strike, the two young men have been alone; their father is serving at the front, and their older brother, Otto, was killed in action. Cilly, Otto's fiancée, is doing everything she can to keep her children safe during the war. Carl is attempting to assist her.
