The Ciambra

Pio Amato, 14, a member of a small Romani community in the southern Italian town of Gioia Tauro in Calabria, is eager to mature. Pio is constantly on the lookout for his older brother Cosimo, from whom he learns how to hustle and traverse the streets of his neighborhood. Pio sets out one night to demonstrate to his brother that he is as good as or better than him, but when things go wrong, a series of events irrevocably alter his perspective on the world.
