Shoah
Not one frame of old footage was used to make this 912 hour Holocaust documentary by Claude Lanzmann. He talks to people who were there, people who saw it, and people who were ex-Nazis (whom he had to film secretly since they only agreed to be interviewed by audio). This is how he interviews people: He asks them to give him as many small details as possible, which helps him build up a picture of Nazi genocide that is horrifying. His subjects show that anti-Semitism, which led to the death of 6 million Jews in the Holocaust, is still alive and well in many people who still live there and elsewhere.
