In the 19th century, the Prince Regent of the Qing Dynasty orders the deaths of everyone in the Meng clan. Before he is beheaded, the leader promises that his family will get revenge for this unfair act of justice. A five-year-old Mang boy named Erkui bravely sings an aria as he waits to die. The opera star Master Yu and his student Guan Yilong, who is only seven years old, are both moved by the power and purity of his voice. Master Yu saves the boy, and the two orphans become brothers. Years later, Master Yu wins the prized golden "The Mightiest Warrior" plaque from the Prince Regent, but he loses it in a duel with his rival, Master Yue. Master Yu is banned from the stage after losing, so he spends his time training the two brothers in the village. When the boys grow up into men, they go to Shanghai to get revenge. Once they get to Shanghai, they quickly beat Master Yue, getting back the plaque and also taking over the Yue's opera troupe.
