Lullaby of Broadway
Pretty Melinda Howard has been performing with a musical company abroad. She chooses to return home in order to surprise her mother, whom she believes to be a successful Broadway actress living in a house in Manhattan. She is unaware that her mother is an exhausted cabaret performer with a passion for liquor. When she gets at the mansion, two servants who are friends of her mother take her in. The home actually belongs to Adolph Hubbell, a benevolent Broadway producer who becomes entangled in the hoax. Melinda catches Hubbell's eye, and he decides to cast her in his upcoming production. Melinda also finds love with a lovely hoofer who is a cast member. Except for Melinda's desire to see her mother, who continually delays their reunion, Melinda's life is going swimmingly.
