Forbidden Love: The Unashamed Stories of Lesbian Lives

Ten Canadian women discuss their experiences as lesbians in the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. They discuss reading lesbian romance pulp fiction of the time, having their first lesbian relationships, the heartbreak of ending those relationships, going to gay bars, being the target of police raids, the reactions of men, and the proper protocol for butch and femme roles. Dramatized chapters from the pulp book "Forbidden Love" are interspersed with the interviews and archival film.
