Correspondences
Jorge de Sena was compelled to flee his homeland. He went to Brazil first, then the United States. He didn't return to Portugal after that. He conducted an epistolary correspondence with Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen during his 20-year exile. These letters bear witness to the two poets' deep relationship, letters of longing and desire to "replace years of distance with hours of discourse." A dialogue is constructed through snippets and verses, illustrating their differing viewpoints but most importantly, their close friendship, and their efforts to preserve it until their last breaths.
