Angela's Ashes

On the basis of the best-selling autobiography by Irish expat Frank McCourt, Angela's Ashes follows the adventures of young Frankie and his family as they try against all odds to escape the poverty endemic in the slums of pre war Limerick. The movie opens with the family from Brooklyn, but after the death of one of Frankie's sisters, they go back home to come across the specific problem there even worse. Despite his having fought for the IRA, prejudice against the Northern Irish dad of Frankie makes his hunt for job from the Republic difficult, when he does find moneyhe spends money .
