The Ballad of Narayama
In Kabuki style, the film tells the story of a mountain village where the shortage of food contributes to a socially-enforced although voluntary policy by which family relations carry relatives that are 70-year-old to perish. Granny Orin is currently coming 70, content to embrace her fate. Her widowed son Tatsuhei cannot bear losing his mother as she arranges his marriage. Her grandson Kesa, who's girl friend is happy to see Orin die. Around them, a couple of thieves are dealt with severely, and an elderly man 70, whose son has throw him out, scrounges for food. Can Orin's loving and spirit teach and ennoble her loved ones?
