Prancer
The impoverished apple farmer's daughter, jessica , still believes in Santa Claus. So when she comes along with a reindeer with a wounded leg, it makes sense to her to presume it really is Prancer, who'd dropped from a Christmas display. She hides the reindeer in her barn and then feeds it biscuits, until she can return it to Santa. Her father finds out the an chooses to market it to get venison chops, perhaps maybe not into the butcher, but as a marketing display.
