Sam always makes the wrong choice. He is single, jaded, and forbidden from using the internet as a convicted computer hacker. Forced to sleep on his brother's couch, he scrapes by working at the neighborhood Twistee Treat and stealing mail dressed as a postal worker. Then, all of that changes with the appearance of a single pink envelope. The heartfelt missive, sent by a grieving Josie to her late husband and fallen Marine, sparks something in Sam. Desperate to earn such love, he plots to meet the lovely, young war widow who aspires to be a better man. As the two become closer, she warms to the prospect of a second chance at love, but not before Sam's history reappears in the guise of an FBI agent hunting for missing bitcoins.
