During the reform phase of the 80's, three undergraduates bind with a frequent vision -- to live the dream. They truly are a hillbilly who will not accept his fate of being a farmer, Cheng Dongqing. Meng Xiaojun, a selfconfident intellectual. And Wang Yang. Xiaojun is your first for analyzing abroad to obtain an US Visa. Yang follows but decides to remain at China due to his beloved. The US Embassy rejects poor Dongqing . Baffled, he accepts the role as an instructor at the university however gets fired for teaching classes that are tutorial . Across the Pacific, Xiaojun neglects to obtain a decent job and is driven to behave as a busboy at a diner.
