Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica

MTV and MuchMusic produced and aired the reality television show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica. It was based on Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson's marriage at the time. The show premiered in August 2003 and ran for three seasons, totaling 41 episodes. The last season began on January 26, 2005, and ended on March 30, 2005, with the final episode. Simpson married Lachey on October 26, 2002, and the couple divorced on December 16, 2005. Jessica and Nick's divorce was finalized on June 30, 2006. The show's premise was to portray Simpson's naive personality, which played on the stereotype of "dumb blondes." The most famous example came from the first episode, when Simpson was confronted with a can of Chicken of the Sea tuna and asked Nick what he thought "Is this chicken or fish that I'm holding? I know it's tuna, but it reads 'Chicken... by the Sea' on the package."
