Grand Star
Grand Star, known in France as La Compagnie des Glaces, is a Canadian-French-Belgian-Co-production science fiction television series that began airing on Space and A-Channel in September 2007 and is currently airing on both channels. The show is set in a post-apocalyptic future 100 years after a devastating nuclear explosion on the Moon puts Earth into a new Ice Age and centres around the interactions between a tiny group of Earth survivors and the returning descendants of colonists who fled Earth ahead of the disaster. The series is based on a series of novels by Georges-Jean Arnaud called La Compagnie des glaces, which were adapted for television. It was released in 2007 that a multiplayer strategy game based on the universe of the television series has been developed. In the game, players square off against one other and utilize their trains to collect money in order to gain control over energy resources. A video game titled Transarctica, which was based on the novel series and was hastily translated into English, was also released in France. The Ice Company by Jean-Marc Lofficier and Randy Lofficier (ISBN 978-1-935558-31-6) was the first novel in the series to be published in English translation in 2010 under the title The Ice Company.
