Get a Life

Obtain a Life is really a tv sitcom that has been broadcast at the USA on the Fox Network in September 23, 1990. The show stars Chris Elliott like a 30-year-old paperboy. Peterson lived in an apartment above his parents' garage. The opening credits portray Chris Peterson delivering newspapers on his bike into the show's theme song,"Stand" by R.E.M. The show turned into a production of Elliott, Adam Resnick and writer/director David Mirkin. Mirkin was executive producer/showrunner of this show and led the majority of the episodes. Writers of this show comprised Charlie Kaufman. And Bob Odenkirk, co-creator of Mr. Show with Bob and David and Tenacious D. The show was unusual to get a primetime sitcom, and several times the storylines of those episodes were surreal. As an example, Elliott's character dies in a dozen episodes. The reasons for death included falling from an airplane, strangulation, being crushed by a giant boulder age, tonsillitis, stab wounds, gunshot wounds, getting run over by automobiles, sipping on cereal, and simply exploding. It was difficult for Mirkin and Elliott to find the show. A number of the executives at the Fox Network despised the show and thought Elliott's personality was overly insane and it was too disturbing.
