The Wonderful Wizard of Oz: The True Story

This American story was first written in 1900 by L Frank Baum, a Chicago businessman, journalist, chicken breeder, actor, boutique owner, Hollywood movie director and lifelong fan of all things. His life spanned an age of achievement and invention and many of these developments helped to fuel the imagination of that this wonderful storyteller. His ambition was to generate the very first fairy-tale that is American that is proper and engage, inspire and the story continues to fascinate millions of fans of all ages from all over the universe. This documentary investigates the way the Wonderful Wizard of Oz has come to symbolise the American Dream also includes previously unseen footage by the Baum family writings, still clips and photographs by the early Oz films, in addition to interviews with relatives, literary pros and American historians as it tells the story of a single person's life in parallel into the growth of modern America.
