The Voice of the Moon

The Voice of the Moon

Time for subjects he first explored in La strada (1954), Fellini crafts a parable on the whisperings of the spirit that simply madmen and vagabonds are designed for hearing. The strange couple, Ivo Salvini (Benigni), a bogus inspector of wells, and Gonnella (Villaggio), a former prefect, roam throughout the Emilia-Romagna countryside of Fellini's youth and discover a dystopia of tv commercials, fascism, beauty pageants, rock music, Catholicism, and pagan ritual.
