The Sensitives
Back in Drew Xanthopoulos' cinematic and intimate documentary, we meet with Joe, a patriarch whose affliction is so all-encompassing he's indifferent to his wife. And twin brothers Sam and Nathan, musicians that are no more in a position to breathe outside of their real-life sterile"plastic bubble," and his mother, Karen, acquired her disease after she was only 17. These characters all suffer from debilitating sensitivities. Whether genetics, ambient chemicals, power, or psychogenic motives, the reason is not clear, however the reality of the effects on these individuals is incontrovertible. Fortunately, a fire brand who is chemically sensitive , Susie Molloy, seeks to help. Inside her, an urge whose assignment is always to de-stigmatize this particular community has been found by those suffering by this malady, and Xanthopoulos has crafted a film itself deeply painful and sensitive and painful as its name suggests.
