The Second Mother

Val spends the next 13 years working as a grandma to Fabinho at São Paulo, after leaving her daughter Jessica to be increased by relatives. She has stability but has to live with the guilt of having Jessica herself. Since Fabinho's university entry tests approach, Jessica seems to wish to offer her mother a second chance and reappears in her own life. Jessica has not been increased for a servant and her existence will turn Val's regular . With humour and precision, her attention turns on the powerful and subtle forces which maintain stiff class arrangements in place and how the youth may be the ones.
