The Rookie

Jim Morris never made it out of the little leagues before a shoulder injury ended his pitching career. Currently a married-with-children high-school chemistry teacher and baseball coach in Texas, the team of Jim makes a deal with him: if they win the district tournament, Jim will check out with a company. The bet demonstrates incentive enough to your own team, plus so they go which makes it into convey to first time in their school's history. Jim, forced to live up to his end of this bargain, is nearly laughed off the try-out field--he gets on the mound, where he confounds that the scouts (and himself) by anemic consecutive 98 mph fastballs, sufficient for a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Jim received a lot of pitches to throw before he makes it but using his own dreams revived, there's no telling where he could go.
