The Ref

Caroline and Lloyd are a couple that is constantly at one another's throats, pros in crafting acid-tongued barbs at another's expense. Really , they have been so enthusiastic about belittling one another they stop -- maybe not even at gun point. The gunman is Gus, a burglar on the run from law enforcement, who kidnaps the bunch as insurance coverage, planning to utilize their home. However, more than Gus bargained for, pushing him for the sake of his sanity -- into the unenviable position of peace maker is proven by their incessant bickering. To make things worse for Gus, he finds he has obtained the pair hostage the night in the big Christmas party, and the guests are already on the way. Not needing to leave Caroline and Lloyd Un-Attended, Gus opts to attend to the celebration, and pretending to become the couple's marriage counselor. This contributes to a run of confusions, as marital worries head and the hostage crisis towards their inevitable conclusion.
