Suzanne Simonin refers to her life of suffering in letters. As a woman she's delivered to a convent against her will. They pick she needs to become a nun, since her parents cannot pay the dowry required for a marriage befitting her position. Although a kind and understanding Mother Superior helps to master the daily pattern of that the convent, Suzanne's appetite for freedom remains unabated. Suzanne finds himself up against harassment, humiliation and reprisals as a result of their Abbess and the different Sisters After the Mother Superior expires.
