The Miracle Worker
This is the true story of Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan, a heart-pounding battle to get over impossible obstacles and learn to communicate. She gets scarlet fever when she is a child, and it makes her very ill. As a result of her sickness, she is now mute, blind, and deaf. Helen is cut off from the rest of the world and unable to communicate with anyone. Helen's despairing family is terrified by her outbursts of fury and tantrums, which are often fueled by frustration and desperation. To help Helen Keller learn about the world outside of her own body, Annie Sullivan is called by her family. She helps the girl understand the world she isn't allowed to see. The Helen Keller character was played by Patty Duke in the original 1962 film version, which was remade for television.
