Rebellion

Ouvéa Island in New Caledonia, April 1988. A group of Kanak freedom fighters kidnaps 30 gendarmes as hostages. To restore order, 300 soldiers are sent from France. Philippe Legorjus, the terrorist squad's commander, and Alphonse Dianou, the kidnappers' leader, square off. They will try to make discussion triumphant by leveraging their shared values. However, in the midst of a presidential election, when the stakes are high, morality does not always trump order. A violent and troubling epic that marks Mathieu Kassovitz's return to the director's chair and behind the camera.
