Jacob

In this uplifting story from Genesis, teenage shepherd Jacob (Matthew Modine) falls in love with and wishes to marry Rachel (Lara Flynn Boyle), the daughter of his Uncle Laban (Giancarlo Giannini). Without a dowry, Jacob toils seven years as an indentured servant for his uncle in order to earn Rachel's hand. However, the cunning Laban connives to trick him into another seven years of labor. Jacob's strong-willed mother is portrayed by Irene Papas.
