I Am Slave

Based on the real-life experiences of Mende Nazer, the story unfolds as twelve-year-old Malia, daughter of champion wrestler Bah, is abducted from her Sudanese village in the Nubar Mountains by pro-government Arab militia and sold into slavery to a woman in Khartoum, who beats her for touching her daughter's body. Eventually, after six years, she is transferred to London, where her identity is changed, but her harrowing life of servitude continues there. They seize her passport and threaten to kill her father if she goes to the authorities, which she does. At least one compassionate individual appears to offer her the possibility of escape and reunion with Bah, who is still in Sudan. Fortunately, she encounters this individual. Despite the film's optimism, the final title claims that there are around 5,000'slave' employees in the United Kingdom at the present time.
