Favourites of the Moon
The tale revolves around two things, an unusual set of 18th-century Limoges china, as well as a 19th century refined portrait. As these items are passed, sold, or stolen from one personality to one more, a giddy round dance of excess starts to materialize, one which recommends that if background does not duplicate itself, it definitely rhymes. Along with co-writer Gérard Brach, whose other co-writing credit scores consist of Repulsion as well as Tess, Otar Iosseliani uses a feather-light touch to reveal the futility of class and caste, making a bagatelle of the problems of rich and inadequate alike.
