Escape from Sobibor
During WWII, the death camp in Treblinka had an escape, causing the Commandant in a comparable camp at Sobibor to vow (actually threaten) his camp would never go through the same thing. However, those who were captives, the Jewish laborers that was spared by the ovens, also knew they were on borrowed time and their only hope was to flee... the only real question was just how exactly to do it. On October 14, 1943, members of the underground resistance of this camp succeeded in covertly killing lots of Allied guards and eleven officers. Of those 600 inmates at the camp, roughly 300 escaped, but most were and killed. The escape forced the Nazis to close the death camp, planting a forest and dismantling it.
