Dolores
When Dolores Huerta and fellow activist Cesar Chavez started the first agricultural workers union in the country in the 1950s, they defied gender norms. An initial fight for labor and race equality gradually turns into a fight for gender equality within her own union, which ultimately forces her to leave. Dolores emerges with a vision that ties her newfound feminism with racial and class justice as she copes with raising 11 children, three marriages, and nearly being battered to death by a San Francisco tactical police squad.
